The University Leadership Initiative (ULI) establishes the Advanced Aerodynamic Design Center for Ultra-Efficient Commercial Vehicles. Under the leadership of the University of Tennessee (UT), the center will develop a more aerodynamic wing for commercial aircrafts. The ULI center brings together university and private-sector partners from across the United States. This multidisciplinary partnership is composed of preeminent faculty researchers and industry partners, and encompasses all the areas of expertise of aeronautics. The center also leverages the facilities and equipment of partners, including high-performance computer clusters to carry out computational simulations, low and high-speed wind tunnels to simulate flight conditions, as well as machining capabilities to produce test models.
